How to Update rDNS / PTR Record from Client Area (Self-Service)

We now provide Self-Service rDNS (PTR) Management for VPS and Dedicated Server customers.
You no longer need to open a support ticket to update reverse DNS.

This guide explains how to update your PTR record in a few simple steps.

What is rDNS / PTR?

Reverse DNS (PTR record) maps your IP address → hostname.

It is commonly required for:

  • Mail server configuration

  • Email deliverability

  • IP reputation management

  • Avoiding spam classification

If your PTR is not properly configured, many mail providers (Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, etc.) may reject or flag your emails.

Where to Update rDNS

Follow this path inside your client area:

Portal Home → Client Area → My Products & Services → Product Details

Step-by-Step Guide to Update PTR Record

Step 1: Login to Client Area

Access your account via the main portal and log in.

Step 2: Open Your Service

Navigate to:

Client Area → My Products & Services

Select your VPS or Dedicated Server.

Step 3: Go to Product Details

Inside the service page, locate the rDNS / PTR Management section.

Step 4: Enter Hostname

Enter the domain name you want your IP to resolve to.

Example:

mail.yourdomain.com

⚠️ Important:

  • The hostname must already resolve to the same IP (Forward DNS must match).

  • The domain should be properly configured in public DNS.

Step 5: Save Changes

Click Update / Save.

Your PTR record will be updated instantly.

Important Requirements

Before setting rDNS, ensure:

  • ✔ The hostname has an A record pointing to your server IP.

  • ✔ Forward DNS and Reverse DNS match (FCrDNS recommended).

  • ✔ You are not using invalid or non-resolving hostnames.

  • ❌ Do not use generic domains like gmail.com, yahoo.com, etc.

Incorrect configurations may cause email rejection.

❓ Do I Still Need to Open a Ticket?

No.
PTR updates are now fully automated through your control panel.

Support tickets for basic rDNS changes are no longer required.

However, you may contact support if:

  • The rDNS section is not visible

  • You are facing technical errors

  • You need assistance with mail server configuration
